Native to start, multiplayer to last
Reading Nikita Bier and Josh Elman together: AI-native from the outset is real, but the old laws of network effects still apply. Why build a commenting feature when the comment can be the prompt?

Two posts worth reading together: @nikitabier on who builds the next breakout products; @joshelman on what makes them last.

Yes, Gen Z/Alpha builders think differently. But this is regardless of AI. They always needed different products - see Snap, and Nikita's own Gas and TBH.

Josh's moats are the laws of physics of digital products: network effects, marketplaces, platforms. AI native products will have to play by these rules.

AI-native from the outset is real. We see it in the internal tools we build at Microsoft AI: why build a commenting feature when the comment can be the prompt for the next iteration? Collaboration turns in to Cocreation.

0>1 products get to start at the frontier - new form factors, new capabilities (Muse, Grok Bot). Legacy platforms have to retrofit the foundation, which is the harder job.
Winners will be native to start & multiplayer to last.
